5 awards are given, $500 each

2 awards for junior high (grades 6-8) (1 piano, 1 instrumental)

Two memorized compositions are required.

Awards are intended for attendance at a summer music camp such as Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp or Interlochen, or any other approved by the GRML Board of Directors; or it can be used to further musical training in the form of lessons, repertoire, etc.
EnRichment Award

One $500 award, open to students in grades 6-11

This award involves presenting a musical selection(s) with education, outreach and enrichment in mind. There is a 10-minute limit to the presentation which includes playing the selection(s) and preparing educational narrative that demonstrates inner workings of the piece to educate general audiences. Areas to consider are the historical time in which the composer wrote the piece, innovation in form, harmony or melody and what the piece means to you as the presenter
Blue Lake Scholarship

One award for grades 6-8, one award for grades 8-11. Eighth graders may apply in either category, but not both.

Two memorized compositions are required—one from Baroque/Classical periods and one from Romantic/Contemporary periods.

Scholarship money is sent directly to Blue Lake.

Up to $300 per scholarship
Dinsmore Scholarship

One award for grades 6-8 (up to $500), one award for grades 8-11 (up to $500). Eighth graders may apply in either category, but not both.

Christopher Zeman Scholarship

Available to graduating high school seniors, college students, or adults dedicated to the pursuit of music

Award is $800.

In addition to a digital recording of approximately ten minutes (recording should contain repertoire from more than one musical period which displays technique, tone, style, interpretation, and musicianship), the following information should be submitted.

Describe the purpose, program and institution for which funds are being sought. Include the name, address, and phone number of the institution, if applicable. Attach any materials that support this request.

Indicate the total cost of the project or program for which you are requesting funds, the breakdown of the cost (i.e. tuition, books, travel, busing, instruments, etc.) and the amount you are requesting.

Please explain why you are applying for this scholarship and how it will benefit you, your students (if you are an educator) or the institution for which you work.

Describe your musical background and ability. Include such things as private study, degrees earned, professional experience, specialized training, public performances and any awards received.

Application for this award should be submitted by December 16, 2024, but recording and accompanying information are not needed until February 8, 2025 .
If you wish to participate in any competition, you must attend 3 of the 5 meetings. Attendance is taken at the in-person recitals and by filling out the short form online for the virtual presentations.

The event is scheduled to be held on February 15, 2025 at Kretschmer Recital Hall, Aquinas College.
The teacher of the student must be a member of GRML.
All applications should be submitted with the online application.
No student can win the same award 2 years in a row.
Award winners will be asked to perform at the following year's October club meeting.
